Description:

The Bureau County Jail is located at 22 Park Avenue West, within the community of Princeton, Illinois. This community is located in the north central region of the state. The jail was constructed in 1973, taking the place of the previous jail, which also served as the Sheriff's residence. The current jail facility houses up to thirty six (36) inmate / detainees, which includes both men and women. The Bureau County Jail does not house juvenile offenders. The inmates have no recreational facilities; however they are offered the opportunity to correct their problems through their own ambitions and professional support. We house prisoners up to 364 days in this jail facility. If someone is sentenced to a longer period of incarceration, they are then sent to the Illinois Department of Corrections for the term of their sentence. If this living arrangement sounds uncomfortable, the Sheriff and citizens of Bureau County encourage you NOT to become a resident of our jail
